BIS 180A  -  Introduction to the Internet and WWW

Class Meetings

1pm to 3pm Tuesdays and Thursdays (8/17-10/7/99)

Course Description

  • This course is designed for those familiar with Windows 95.
  • We will cover the basics of computers, networking, communications. We will explore the Internet, the WWW, FTP, GOPHER, e-mail.
  • We will talk about designing web sites and uploading the result to a hosting site; doing that will be left to the student and the requirements of the hosting site.

Prerequisites

Just enough curosity to sit down in front of a computer and just enough interest to stay there for a while. The computer age may be a bit ahead of you, but it has NOT passed you and left you behind. Familiarity with Windows 95 basic skills, browser experience helpful.
